Gilbert population has grown at an incredible rate in the last 30 years. Being just a small town in about 1980 of 6000 or so people Gilbert has grown and blossomed to a full fledged city of approximately 230000 people in 2015. Thanks to some strategic planning and foresight of people the city has thrived and is a beautiful and comfortable place to live. With neighborhoods like Agritopia that sport some interesting and unique architecture alongside of Joe’s Farm Grill on Ray and Higley it’s no wonder many call Gilbert home. Joe’s Coffee Shop has fantastic cupcakes and coffee and has been featured on the Food Network. Not bad for our little bedroom community in the Phoenix suburbs.
A new high-end shopping facility is being built right next to Agritopia on the corner of Higley and Ray in Gilbert. It will boast eating establishments that are non chain driven, in other words they will be places where local chefs can flourish and experiment away from corporate over site and restrictions.

With the closure of the Williams Air Force Base in 1992 the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport Authority has partnered with the city of Gilbert.
